What does handhewn mean?
The ornaments are made in Switzerland by craftsman, therefore no 2 ornaments are exactly the same.
What does custom made mean?
We make each collar to order. The ornamentation and leather work is done by our experienced leathercraftsmen. Your collar does not exist prior to order - we do not keep inventory of Guardians.
How long does it take to make and ship a Guardian Collar?
From the time of order you can expect 7-10 business days for making your Guardian collar. Shipping is 3-5 days Ground.
How do I measure my dog's neck if I don't have a tape measure?
You can use a piece of string or cut a strip of newspaper - wrap it around your dogs neck and mark the length with your fingers or a pencil. Then lay it out on a straight ruler to get the proper measurement. Send this to us so that we can double check your order for correct collar size.
How do I choose a size?
Take your dog's exact neck size (do not add or subtract). Once you have the exact size (e.g. 22") - then add 4" (e.g. 22 + 4 = 26"). Choose from the drop down menu the correct size, but always choose the larger size (e.g. 26" is your total - then choose size 27" NOT 25"). Please send us your dog's exact neck size so that we can double check for proper sizing.

Why can't I use Guardians for normal every day wear?
Guardians are custom made with the finest 2-Ply Latigo and hand set with antique brass or nickel ornaments and sometimes Swarovski jewels - most dogs in the course of the day will run, jump and play without regard to surroundings. They may run through brush, fences or roll on various surfaces. The opportunity for them to damage their collar is greatly increased with these activities. In order to keep your Guardian collar in good condition - treat it as fine jewelry that is worn for speical occasions.

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, but find no defects, you may return unused item in original condition with tags for a 20% re-stocking fee.
